Good evening all,

In regards to this unprecedented situation for us all and our school.

Mr. Johns has been in touch with the BTC and below is the response he received.

BTC Club Status due to Coronavirus (COVID-19)

British Taekwondo Council, the NGB for Taekwondo in the UK, is receiving a number of phone calls from instructors regarding what should they be doing regarding the continued operation of their schools.

The BTC as of 12 noon on 17th March 2020 is operating under advice and guidance from Government and partner agencies:

1. If your school is currently operating within an educational facility that has been closed, the operation of the school may well be out of your hands and it is in the hands of the host school to determine whether you can operate.

2. If the facility you use does allow you to operate, then the BTC guidance is that of a private owner-operator. At this time the training halls and dojangs can remain open, giving the participant the choice of whether to attend training or not. The BTC will also follow the Government and NHS guidelines that any of your members 70yrs+ and/or those who have underlying health conditions, should take the further advice available to them on the NHS website or via their GP practice.

3. Please note, any Government instruction that supersedes the date and time of this BTC notice will, of course, take precedence.

Thank you for your support and co-operation.

Trevor Nicholls

This means we are doing all the right things and I'm sure you would join me in thanking Mr. Johns for his continued support during this time.

The area seminar that is due to take place on the 2nd of May is still going ahead as planned.

Mr. Johns is in constant contact with GM Taylor and the UKTA.

If there are any updates we shall inform you straight away.

  • I've done Taekwon-Do before. Do I need to start from white belt again?
As long as you previously trained at an association under the International Taekwon-Do Federation, you will not need to start from white belt again. You'll need to bring your certificate, and of course your belt!
  • How much does it cost?
The cost can be tailored to you, depending on how many people in your family want to train, the ages of the students, and how often you wish to train each month. As a guide, the average cost is around £25 per student per calendar month.
  • What age do I need to be?
Usually we advise that the youngest age for students to start is 5 years of age. However, children could start at a slightly younger age, depending on the personality of the child. We have no upper age limit for accepting students.
